:: Register a domain in 4-easy steps
1. Choose a domain name and domain extension
  • There are many domain extensions available, the most popular being .com
  • The South African domain extenstion is .co.za - this extension is well known to South Africans but not internationally
  • The .com extension generally carries more prestige, but for companies with mostly local dealings the .co.za is the accepted norm
  • If you have a specific domain name in mind, you may have better luck with a .co.za, as the majority of catchy and popular .com names have already been registered
  • When buying an international domain name, you are able to purchase the name and make hosting arrangements later. You will usually receive free email forwarding
  • When choosing a domain name, remember shorter is better and names that are difficult to spell should be avoided.
2. Check the availability of the name
  • Domain names are recorded in an international database called the WHOIS. Follow any of the links on the left to check on availability of names and registered details
3. For a local .co.za, decide on who will host your site
  • If you are registering a .co.za domain you will need to have already decided on a company to host your website before you are able to purchase the domain. Your hosting company will need to make the necessary preparations for your new domain
4. Purchase the domain name using your credit card
  • To proceed with purchasing a domain name, simply click on any of the links on the left to buy a domain quickly and easily online
